You are our welcome guest at the MLC Yoga Shala.

We consider the working relationship between you and your teacher most significant for the best learning experience and a successful practice.

On your first day of practice at MLC please check in with your teacher and agree about what and how to practice. Your teacher is there to help and guide you.

We are inspired by the traditional Ashtanga method as taught by Pattabhi & Sharath Jois in Mysore, India. Please do your best to maintain the traditional Ashtanga sequence of yoga asanas unless requested by your teacher. If you are unable to follow the sequence or if you perhaps do not know the sequence, please talk it over with your teacher so we can get on the same page.

Practice with care and consideration towards yourself and others. Respect your limits. Acknowledge that your body and mind will feel different every day; listen to what your body tells you and practice in your own time following your own breath.

Personal hygiene is an integral part of practicing yoga. Please ensure that you and your gear are clean.

Please refrain from unnecessary talking inside the yoga room.

If you feel emotionally upset during or after a yoga session (joy, sadness, irritation, etc.) know that such momentary emotional release is not uncommon. You are welcome to speak to your teacher about it. We happily help shine some light on any difficult moment you might encounter, whether physical, emotional, mental or other.

Do not underestimate the effect of Ashtanga yoga. It is a very effective self-therapy for personal development – physically, mentally and spiritually. Consider a balanced practice integrating both activation and release, engagement and softening, as the means to your progress.

We do not practice Mysore style on New and Full moon. For more information please click HERE.

Please do not take new asanas unless agreed upon with your teacher.

We recommend to refrain from eating at least 2 hours prior to and 30 minutes after your practice. Drink plenty of water after your practice.

Please leave your shoes in the lobby, your bag and clothes in the dressing room and your personal valuables on the shelves provided in the rear of the Yoga Shala. Please turn off your mobile phone.
