A hybrid in-depth education in yogic training for teachers and established practitioners. This course is our most in-depth learning option.

It’s a modular learning experience that integrates digital and in person learning with the experience, tradition, personal attention, and the master level Ashtanga methodology perfected by the MLC family the past 20 years.

Please note that only our teacher Paramaguru Sharath Jois authorizes students to teach in our lineage.

 

The Training / The Path

You will join a comprehensive program aimed at deepening your understanding and ability to teach of Ashtanga Yoga. Over this course you will have the opportunity to re-set your foundation in the practice and refine your established yoga teaching methodology further.

This modular program is an intensive Ashtanga learning experience. We will start with one month at Miami Life Center where you will be immersed in daily practice of asana, sitting and yogic breathing as Tapas is essential to any personal growth on the yogic path as well as workshops on anatomy, technique and adjustments and vinyasa counts. After your one month at MLC we will offer a series of workshops and seminars on key philosophy, business development and social justice. You will complete this course prepared to bring a refreshing depth to this ancient path.

MLC presents a roster of special teachers who all dedicate their lives to the spiritual practice of yoga. Through their guidance, you will learn the technical foundation for key asanas of the Primary and Second Series in their original context, inclusive the Vinyasa counts. You will learn how to practice and instruct basic mindfulness and meditation, modify the practice for accessibility and therapeutics and much more. Our intention is to provide you with an education that supplements your existing body of yoga knowledge - not with a formal Ashtanga certification.

This course meets Yoga alliance standards Students will complete 200 hours in person at MLC, followed by an additional 100 hours online over the following months.

Only Sharath Jois’ Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India, can grant you an official certification or authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga. This course does fulfill and surpass the 300 hour requirement for Yoga Alliance listing credentials.

We will take a particular focus on how to make this formidable practice accessible to all by learning applied anatomy, modified ways to present Ashtanga gently, yoga therapeutics and injury prevention. You will develop trauma-informed skills, heighten your awareness of inclusivity, and be equipped to meet the student where they are.

What Will I Learn?

On completion of this program, you will be established in daily practice and teaching with a tangible understanding of the technical foundations of the principle postures of the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. You will learn how to practice and teach classic yogic breathing techniques and meditation and mindfulness. You will be proficient in the traditional method of Sanskrit Vinyasa counting for select asanas. Completion of this course and successful testing of material is compliant with Yoga Alliance RYT 300-hr standards.

You will study classic Yoga Philosophy as per Patañjali and The Bhagavad Gita as well as other primary texts with some of the most respected teachers in the field. In short, you will learn how to truly honor yoga’s roots.

Tim and Kino Contact Hours:

Kino teaches 43-hours total: 18-hours Mysore, 6-hours guided full primary & talk, 15-hours Assisting School, 3-hours Meditation, 1-hour Yin yoga.

Tim teachers 38.5-hours total: 20-hours of Mysore, 6-hours guided full primary & talk, 12.5-hours Yoga Sutras.

A recommendation from a teacher or person who knows you well helps us with a look into your practice and commitment to yoga. We prefer a recommendation from an Ashtanga based teacher, yet whomever you call your teacher works fine or if you practice at home without a teacher, then we will accept a recommendation from someone else of importance in your life.

 

Program Tuition & Payment:

The course costs $6,350. A $1,250 non-refundable deposit is required before applying the program. After you’ve paid your deposit you may submit your application form.

Final payment due by April 1st, 2024. A payment plan may be available upon request.

You can also access the course for a discounted early bird special of $5,350. Apply and secure your spot with a payment in full by February 28th, 2024 to qualify for the discounted rate. After February 28th, 2024 the tuition cost will increase to the full cost of $6,350.
